Some people are under the silly impression that a person’s fashionability is based on the season, their body type, the clothes they wear or some other such goofy, external factor. While all of these things do play their own inimitable parts in the fashion equation, the most important component by far is that you have a fashionable mindset. After all, it does not matter how well dressed you are, if you do not think and carry yourself in a way that says you are a fashionable person by nature. How you think informs how you move, stand, and just act on a moment by moment basis. And if how you think is not up to snuff, then any clothing that you put on is not going to be good enough to make you seem to be truly fashionable. It is rather like painting a rotten fence- the paint may look pretty good, but it is what is under the paint that needs to hold together.
Is your mindset fashionable? Is there a sense of power and confidence in the way that you move? Do you carry yourself as if you are an attractive person who knows what is going on in the world? If you do not, then your mindset is not that fashionable. Fashionable people have got to combine the knowledge of what is going on now with a personal aesthetic of what is always going to look good, no matter what trends might be popping right now.
After all, style and fashion have got a lot of things in common. While a person could theoretically be fashionable without having the slightest whit of an idea about style, but it will almost be an accident, because the mindset is just not going to be there. And the worst part is that there is just no saving a person whose entire thought process is so completely devoid of style that following the fashions of this world is pointless. They may occasionally imitate something stylish with some success, but their lack of confidence in themselves is always going to show through.
